011130 - Judges' Guild seems to have lost (or sold) its web address, as it now seems to be one of those pages full of links for casinos and things.

Dream Pod 9 Demo Games

011130 - Dream Pod 9 is releasing four very low-priced demo games for its product lines.  Less than a dollar will get you a stand-alone demo game for Heavy Gear Tactical Dueling, Jovian Chronicles Lightning Strike, Gear Krieg Tactical, or Tribe 8 RPG.

KODT Hack Card Game Ships

011130 - Well, it's not exactly a role-playing game, but it's not like there's been a ton of news to report lately, either.  In any case, Eden Studios is now shipping its Knights of the Dinner Table Hack card game.

Ars Magica gets new Line Editor

011129 - Atlas Games announced that David Chart will the new line editor for the company's Ars Magica line.  Full details can be found here.

R. Talsorian denies D20 Rumor

011129 - R. Talsorian Games today denied rumors that it was planning to convert Mekton RPG to the d20 System. The company uncategorically stated that it has no plans to convert any of its games to that system.

Iron Crown Returns...Sort Of

011125 - Iron Crown Enterprises is back in business.  Sort of.  Full details can be found on the company's web page.

Wheel of Time Released

011125 - Wizards of the Coast has released Wheel of Time, its latest RPG using the increasingly ubiquitous d20 System.

Free Map of Freeport

011123 - Green Ronin has a free player's map of Freeport available as a .pdf download from its Focus on Freeport page.

Dime Heroes now Available

011120 - Deep7 is now offering Dime Heroes, a "1930's pulp fiction" flavoring for its 1PG line.   It is a $3.95 download.

Also available is Jungle Adventures, a theme supplement for Dime Heroes.  Jungle Adventures is available as an upgrade to Dime Heroes for just $1.00, or it can be purchased separately for $2.50.

Fief Ships

011119 - Cumberland Games is now selling Fief, a system-independent sourcebook about historical medieval society.  The 100-page download-and-print book is available for $20. Sample pages can be downloaded here.

Evael Prepares to Ship

011119 - Columbia Games is preparing to ship Evael, the sourcebook for all things Elfin in HârnWorld.   The 64-page, $20 book should ship by the end of the month.  You can pre-order now for only $16, but when you add in the $5 shipping charge you're better off buying it from your local retailer.

Cthulhu Adventure Downloads

011119 - Chaosium, recent winner of the Robert Bloch Award, has made a large number of Call of Cthulhu adventures available for free download.

011119 - Atlas Games is also shipping At Your Service, a supplement for its Over the Edge RPG.

Available: The Last Dance

011119 - Atlas Games announced that The Last Dance, an adventure in its Penumbra line of d20 System supplements has been released.

Pocket Universe Ships

011116 - UNIgames is now shipping Pocket Universe, its new compact role-playing game system.  The game was designed by Jeff Dee and 'Manda, the co-creators of 1987's TWERPS.

Pocket Universe consists of sixteen 4.25" x 7" pages of relatively small print with a glossy full-color cover. An  8 1/2" x 11" insert provides a character sheet and an introductory adventure. Housed in a protective ziplock baggie, the entire package retails for $4.95.

UNIgames plans to support the product line with rules expansions and campaign books, starting with Teenage Demon Slayers, which is slated for release later this month.

Red Dwarf RPG

011115 - If you've never seen the BBC comedic science fiction series Red Dwarf, you don't know what you're missing.  The first two seasons of the show are the funniest things I've ever seen on the tiny tube.  Now Deep7 announces that they have scooped the license for a Red Dwarf RPG and that we'll see a RPG based on the show!

The estimated release date? A year from now.

Farscape Delayed

011112 - Citing "certain environmental constraints," Alderac Entertainment Group is delaying the release of the Farscape RPG until a yet undetermined date.

Eden snags Buffy the Vampire Slayer

011112 - Eden Studios has not made the official announcement yet, but the company has publicly said that there will be an officially licensed Buffy the Vampire Slayer RPG released in 2002.

GURPS WWII at Printers

011112 - Steve Jackson Games has sent GURPS WWII to the printer.

Blood of Heroes Contest

011108 - Pulsar Games announced a contest. The company is seeking written submissions for use in the upcoming Blood of Heroes: Gamemaster Screen. The winner will receive a free copy of the Gamemaster Screen and a free copy of Blood of Heroes: Special Edition. Full details can be found here.

011106 - Patrick "The Mad Irishman" Murphy, creator of the finest free character sheets around, has moved his website.  The new site can now be found at http://www.mad-irishman.net/.   New on his site is a version of his D&D character sheet prettied up for use with Oriental Adventures.

011106 - Steve Jackson Games announced that the following products are scheduled for a February, 2002, release:

Dark Quest releases City Guide I: Everyday Life

011106 - Dark Quest is now offering City Guide I: Everyday Life, a 64-page volume containing 13 shops, some NPCs and new items for the d20 System.  The download version is $5.00 or you can pre-order the print version for $7.95.

Bastion Press inks deal with Osseum Entertainment

011102 - Osseum Entertainment announced that it is now handling all sales and fulfillment for Bastion Press products.

Also announced was Bastion Press's upcoming release schedule.   Planned releases are:

Minions: Fearsome Foes is another book of monsters for the d20 System, and is scheduled for a December release.

Arms & Armor is a book of weapons, armor and artifacts of magical ability for the d20 System. It is scheduled for release in January.

February is the month scheduled to release Villains, a compilation of d20 System bad guys.

In March the company is set to release Alchemy & Herbalists the discusses, well, alchemy and herbalism in the d20 System.

All these products appear to be 96-pages with a  $24.95 MSRP.

Call for Submissions (Reviews)

011101 - RPG Gazette is getting ready to add its reviews section.  All I need now are the reviews.  While I'm working on a number of them, I think it would be nice to have a broader base of review authors.  I would therefore like to take this opportunity to invite all of you would-be writers out there to write their own reviews and send them to me for consideration.  While you won't be compensated (after all, this site in not a commercial enterprise) you will get bragging rights!

I'm looking for reviews on any role-playing related item: games, adventures, supplements, software, and even dice!  But it must be role-playing related; a review of the latest expansion pack for the hottest collectable-card game will rejected.  While new products are the most logical, don't rule out older releases--the availability of everything through online auctions and stores make reviews of those products still useful to the decision making process.
